I had a review session with my art mentor.  He’s a weird guy, he seems to have an understanding of the kinds of things I want to do with my art.

It’s extremely helpful to be able to get a constructive perspective on stuff I’m working on.  I hate to be that guy, but I’m stupidly self conscious about my art and despite my goals changing, I still measure myself against the work of others. I recently started doing studies of cartoon hands because I thought “my hands aren’t cartoony enough” but getting the clarification that what I’m already doing is good enough. I hate referring to my peers for this kind of feedback, so I’m extremely grateful for his input.

Another tip I was given, though a bit basic was to just set up a template for future work.

something as simple as a set of folders for

draft

corrections

lineart

flat colours

etc

has had a positive effect on my work process
